I found the DOOM one at the Cornetto Trilogy tumblr on its own last week (submitted from my freshly-minted tumblr). Yeah, I'm tumbling now. Well, at least for a little while. I've been preoccupied obsessed with getting some bit of Cornetto fan goofing up there, and when submitted uploaded images or links to flickr didn't seem to work, I thought that the Trilogy tumblr might take kindly to another of its kind, so, Edgar, Simon, Nick, I tumble 4 U.

What was I gonna do? *Not* force the Culture Club reference?

If there's any chance you've come across this post and have no idea what any of the images or titles are about… The (Three Flavours of) Cornetto Trilogy refers to the three brilliant and remarkable films by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg and their talented menagerie:

SHAUN OF THE DEAD

HOT FUZZ

THE WORLD'S END

All of these films are incredibly entertaining, thoughtful, clever, and have at their centers some great relationships and relating. I don't have the time to describe the awesome properly, but with these films, I believe you can watch and trust the trailers. In fact, they are UNDERselling their films.

And—Oh!—the music! Frack. Can't wait for the soundtrack to THE WORLD'S END to be available here in the colonies!

END opens in the U.S. on August 23 and select theatres are offering the triple feature of all three films in order on Thursday, August 22. I *highly* recommend this option. DO IT =)

The Cornetto Trilogy: Three Flavours… of HERO!

In my second riff on the trilogy, "Three Flavours… of HERO!" I decided to tackle Simon Pegg's hapless heroic leads. I really need to practice drawing more, freehand and digitally. My likeness-ing needs improvement. It's always been a weakness and challenge.

And went with the (closing?) line from HOT FUZZ (and a lift from POINT BREAK)…

Angel: Sergeant Butterman, the little hand says it's time to rock and roll!

A fine and fitting declaration of intent for THE WORLD'S END, I rather think.

It's my sincere and not-at-all-secret hope that this creative team supreme works on turning "The Cornetto Trilogy" into "The Increasingly Misnamed Cornetto Trilogy." =)

The Cornetto Trilogy: Three Flavours… of DOOM!

A riff on Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost's "Three Flavours" of "The Cornetto Trilogy"—also known as "The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy"—the films SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, and THE WORLD'S END. In this fan artishness, I decided to feature the "baddies."

Hafta admit, I had trouble deciding on what and how much copy to use which resulted in me kinda throwing in more than I probably should have. Cuz I think I'm sooo frickin clever. : P

"ENJOY THE RIDE, LOVE THE ENDING" is Cornetto's actual marketing copy. Pretty well describes how to consume the films (haven't seen END yet, but I'll go out on a limb and consider it just as slice-of-fried-gold as SHAUN and FUZZ =), but also kind of bittersweet, in light of the trilogy being "completed" with END.

So, when do you think they'll get off their duffs and start on the Jaffa Cakes prequels? =)
