"A" if I think there's an Academy pick vs. my pick ("X").

[ ] Bruce Dern (Nebraska)
[ ] Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street)
[ ] Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave)
[X] Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)

Best Actress in a Leading Role
[ ] Amy Adams (American Hustle)
[X] Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)
[ ] Sandra Bullock (Gravity)

[A] Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave)

[X] Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club)

Best Actress in a Supporting Role
[ ] Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine)
[X] Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle)
[A] Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave)
[ ] Julia Roberts (August: Osage County)
[ ] June Squibb (Nebraska)

Such a tough call. I want to give it to Hawkins cuz I just basically love her, and Squibb cuz she is wonderful in NEBRASKA, but with the notion of this category describing someone who elevated a film with her performance in a possibly make-or-break way, while not having Lawrence wouldn't have hurt the film, having her do the crazy that she did added a lot to the dynamics of the main characters.

Best Animated Feature
[ ] The Croods (Chris Sanders, Kirk DeMicco, Kristine Belson)
[ ] Despicable Me 2 (Chris Renaud, Pierre Coffin, Chris Meledandri)
[X] Ernest & Celestine (Benjamin Renner, Didier Brunner)
[A] Frozen (Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, Peter Del Vecho)
[ ] The Wind Rises (Hayao Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki)

I've only seen the trailer for ERNEST & CELESTINE but I'm pretty sure I love it already. THE WIND RISES is beautiful, but not Miyazaki's best for story.

Best Cinematography

[ ] Inside Llewyn Davis (Bruno Delbonnel)
[ ] Nebraska (Phedon Papamichael)

[X] The Grandmaster (William Chang Suk Ping)
[A] The Great Gatsby (Catherine Martin)
[ ] The Invisible Woman (Michael O'Connor)
[ ] 12 Years a Slave (Patricia Norris)

I never pay enough attention to this when I'm actually watching the film, but I definitely dig the wardrobe of THE GRANDMASTER and altho I haven't seen GATSBY, it has that remarkable flashed-up period look that Baz seems to love so much.
