I think so. =)
* The next day. Maybe it'll help if I 'splain that I only think it's funny in light of 300's portrayal of Spartan society. That is, you'll only "get" it if you've seen the movie or read the graphic novel. I took the photo on the 18th but until I walked by the marquee again tonight, I'd neglected to download the pic from my camera.
And, speaking of ANCHORMAN....
A little something to make up for anyone who was drawn in by the question in the title of this post but ended up answering, "Ummm... not so much..."
Thanks to Scott for the point to this sweet mash-up. =)
Keep on keepin on~

Hmm...I guess I just don't get it.
My favorite movie marquee of all time read:
THE QUICK AND THE DEAD
LITTLE WOMEN
Why I think it's funny...
The film establishes the Spartans as a culture with no patience for weakness or imperfection. So excluding moviegoers in wheelchairs woudl be a very Spartan measure, no?
Yeah, okay. I guess it's not so much of a one-liner in places that aren't my head, eh?
A *SPOILERy* re-hash of movie moments that make this funny to me. =)
The movie begins with background on Spartan society, including the practice of culling the weak and deformed at birth, very dramatically illustrated with a warrior, standing at a cliff's edge, studying the features of a newborn child, as, hundreds of feet below, the empty eye sockets of the skeletons of previous generations of the discarded look on.
And as the movie moves on, the story introduces a "defective" warrior, whose Spartan parents went into exile to save their imperfect child from judgement at the cliff. He's been raised with Spartan ideals and wishes to join the soldiers at the Hot Gates. However, given his physical inability to participate in Spartan tactics, Leonidas turns him away. This drives him to the transsexual bisexual arms of the Persians, leads him to betray the Spartans, and show them just how right they would have been to chuck him over the cliff, lo, those many years ago.
I'm glad our society doesn't put up with such cruelty survive in this day and age... Hrmm... Y'know, the WB should put together a show...
SPARTAN HIGH... or SPARTA 90210? No, maybe LEONIDAS'S CREEK. Perhaps... THE S?
There's also the ever famous:
ERIN BROCKOVICH
SCREWED
MY DOG SKIP
I call that one a classic.
Anyhoo, I read the marquee too quickly and thought the joke was, "300 Disabled People", but then I noticed the cross-out line...then I REALLY got the joke :) Now off I go to read the graphic novel version. (just finised Sin City/"A Dame To Die" and it's just brilliant.)
