"It is harmful to the body," said Daisy to naughty Latawnya.

"... I also heard some horses talking about getting high. I didn't know what they were talking about, so I asked them what getting high meant. They told me it meant using all kinds of drugs. Mother and Father, I think they have their words mixed up. They should say getting low means using all kinds of drugs. I felt so bad, and low, after I used drugs. Mother and Father, I am glad you explained drugs to me."
Never mind their opposable thumblessness, these horses like to get their smoke on... Dude!
For more details/backstory on the rise of Latawnya online, check out this thread at somethingawful. Apparently, the somethingawfulites cleaned out Amazon's inventory of the book (in hardcover!)...

Thanks (I think) to Paris Jen for pointing me to this work of southern fried children's lit. =)

Keep on keepin on~

OMG. (in keeping theme w/last entry)

So I had to poke around somethingawful's thread. Very long, but hilarious and worth browsing through. Then I caught this, written by the person who found the book:

"To be fair, nobody checks out any of the books here. The library is really only used anymore to read storybooks to little kids, and I've never seen anyone check out books. Hell, I don't even know what we'd do if they asked to.

It's worth noting that this is a Jewish library. We only stock Jewish books. The storybooks we read to the kids are based on Old Testament tales or Jews in history, and most of our non-kids' books are histories of the Holocaust.

I don't have the slightest clue how this could have gotten into a Jewish library.

Also, I should mention that there was another book I managed to take home with me, along with this treasure. However, it's actually written in correct English and is published by a real publisher. Are you ready for it?

Choose Your Own Adventure: The Holocaust"
