This weekend at the Brattle, it's Charlie Chaplin's MONSIEUR VERDOUX and Dr. Who's DOCTOR WHO! I hafta admit, nerdboy wannabe that I am, I'm just a little more excited about the DOCTOR WHO offerings. =)

Don't get me wrong. I will see both programs if I can. VERDOUX looks wonderfully dark. =) Let me know if you're interested and looking for a spotter.

I was a fan of chunks of the Tom Baker years (thank you WWOR channel 9 out of NYC), even picked up some runs of the comic books, but I hafta say, since the show's returned, I've been watching faithfully (a little behind the curve, on SciFi Fridays), and digging it more and more. The Brattle's "Hooked on Who!" program features two full storylines from the Baker years, one scripted by Douglas Adams, and one episode each of the two most recent incarnations, Christopher Eccleston (HEROES invisible dude) and David Tennant (a real life elf, I'm pretty sure).

* July 31. Disney's been slapping the legal whammy on all versions of the video from Comic-Con (except the Rickrolls, of course) wherever it popped up online, but someone's posted it anew here (see below)... Who knows how long it'll last? Check it out!

The above is a tweaked and cropped version of the cellphone vid found here at a Gizmodo post. TR2N! (TRON 2, that is.) It looks frickin gorgeous, like a computer generated and animated AKIRA... and the frickin awe-dience reaction is excellent =)

And frickin frackin Jeff "Flynn/The Dude" Bridges is back for it!

I totally dig this song, but I wonder if I'm the victim of a copycat A-Ha "Take On Me" phenomenon, y'know? The one where Brian reaches for the newer milk in the back of the refrigerated shelves and gets sucked into that world where everyone is rotoscoped and pencil sketched, and the pretty boy singer w the big hair smashes his way out of it and into the real world and when Lois asks him where he's been he says, "I don't know!" Anyhow, I saw the video and loved it before I ever heard the song on its own.

I think I will need the album.
