another step closer to LOOKER...

Check out this video that features highlights of the capabilites of a morphable model of 3D faces, a model that can be used to re-create anyone's poseable, expressable, 3-d likeness from a 2-d image as a source.

Anyone remember the movie LOOKER? That's where I see the entertainment/media applications of this going, which will create new ripples in the area of rights litigation concerning control over one's likeness, and a market for them. A popular (or popular enough) model could license his/her likeness for use in commercials, films, and games, without ever actually having to show up on a set or even speak a line of dialogue.

Lucas must be loving this. Maybe Harrison Ford didn't need to hit the gym so hard for the past two years. They could just lift his younger self out of the other Indy flicks!

Of course, if they want to keep it a secret, well... Check out LOOKER. I'll hafta see about getting that onto my sister's Netflix queue.

Thanks to WIRED for the model headzup.

Keep on keepin on~
